VPK supports the establishment of a solid foundation for school by utilizing educational materials that align with different stages of a child's development.
To be eligible:
- Children must be Florida Residents.
- Must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the current school year.
Learn About Available Assistance Programs
School Readiness (ELC)
Before prekindergarten, children benefit from experiences that prepare them for school.
The school readiness program not only aids in early education preparation, but also offers child care, enabling parents to work or attend training/education.
Funded mainly by the federal Child Care and Development Fund Block Grant, the program is administered at the state level by DEL.
VPK Program
The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program or VPK Program at Doorway To Learning is ideal for children ages 4 years old or those who will be 4 years old in the coming September of the current year.
VPK was designed to help young children successfully transition into kindergarten. It teaches skills to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.
